Maritzburg College’s Pastoral Care and Mentorship Programme is one of the core components of the College difference. This whole-school programme, with a foundation of tradition, brings College boys together with a unique sense of brotherhood.
The bonds of community and ethos of mutual care and concern helps each and every boy at College find his place. It is through this sense of belonging that boys are given the chances to be well, excel, develop resilience, and grow within themselves and in their interactions with others.
At the same time, the co-curricular Visual Arts and Drama clubs are an exciting extension of lessons within the classroom. For boys with an interest in the Arts, this is an ideal way to grow their experiences and talents – without necessarily building it into their subject choices.
A boy’s house helps him find his place at College. The house system is both where he can find a sense of belonging and thrive within a spirit of healthy competition amongst his peers.
College creates opportunities for boys to become strong leaders – within the school and out in the world. We nurture every boy’s inherent leadership strengths through a careful structure of leadership.
Our school psychologist is always available to assist as boys work through the trials of being a teenager – and our career guidance teacher helps to establish the best subject choices and tertiary options.
