The Olivier Bequest Appeal (OBA) is one of the programmes of the Foundation which is coordinated in conjunction with The Maritzburg College Old Boys Association (MCOBA). Supported by former headmaster, Mr Keith Olivier, who kindly agreed to allow us to use his name and volunteered to act as patron, the fund is set up to provide a framework and to encourage OCs (and other supporters) to consider a testamentary bequest to College via the Foundation.
Maritzburg College has a proud and distinguished history and has long been regarded as one of the premier boys’ high schools in South Africa.
The voices of some of our country’s most prominent sportsmen, academics, business leaders and social entrepreneurs have echoed throughout these walls. New generations of young men of the highest calibre continue to be moulded by the traditions and ethos of our fine school.
We recognise the importance of Maritzburg College as an educational institution, as well as the invaluable role that it has played in the lives of the countless Old Boys and College families since its inception in 1863. Maritzburg College will undoubtedly continue to play a pivotal role in the future success of our youth, our communities and our country.
At the Maritzburg College Foundation, we understand that making a bequest needs to be a carefully considered decision. It is your opportunity to support a cause that you believe in. It is your chance to create a legacy that will honour you, your family or someone you hold dear.
A bequest is a gift or a consideration drawn from the sum total of your final assets, designated to go to a particular person or organisation after your death.
There are many areas to which you may direct your gift and many ways you can support Maritzburg College. Please see our pillars.
No matter where you choose to place your support, your legacy will have an important impact on the Maritzburg College with far-reaching positive consequences.
Maritzburg College is both humbled and eternally grateful for the commitment of our Old Boys and friend who have named the school as a beneficiary in their wills.
The Olivier Bequest Appeal, conceptualised and administered through the Maritzburg College Foundation, recognises the importance place our benefactors enjoy within the College Family.
Named in honour of Keith Olivier, distinguished Old Boy (OC 1948), educator and former Headmaster of Maritzburg College from 1978 to 1985, The Olivier Bequest Appeal welcomes our supporters who have chosen to make a bequest to Maritzburg College.
A bequest can take many forms and may include:
We hope you will join us and other benefactors who share a passion for supporting Maritzburg College and recognise the importance of its role in changing lives and shaping futures.
