The Maritzburg College Foundation is proud to partner with the Amathuba Foundation in creating opportunities and providing support for three of our boys. A non-profit company, the Amathuba Foundation partners with learners, schools and caregivers to enable high school opportunities for disadvantaged learners in KwaZulu-Natal. Key to their success is the provision of an extensive mentorship programme, creating a sense of belonging and building authentic relationships that enable learners to thrive.
College has three learners who are benefitting through the Amathuba Foundation.
Olwethu attended Ashdown Primary in Edendale until Grade 3, before being awarded a Frank Jackson Foundation Scholarship to attend Cordwalles from Gr 4-7. His boarding fee is funded by a private donor through the Amathuba Foundation but, more importantly, Olwethu is mentored by the Foundation, which entails him having someone walking the road with him each term for his five years at high school.
Sbonakele attended Eastwood Primary until Grade 3 and was then given a Frank Jackson Foundation Scholarship to attend Cordwalles from Gr 4-7. He is privately funded by a donor through the Amathuba Foundation and also is mentored through his five years at College.
Langelihle attended Piet Retief Primary School until Grade 3; then got an opportunity to attend Cordwalles from Gr 4-7 with funding provided by Safire Insurance. He is now funded by both Safire and a private donor through the Amathuba Foundation – and similarly benefits from having a mentor to help him each term throughout his high school years.
Thank you Amathuba and Ali for helping us to help our boys!
