Building of the Dr James Hill Deck and wheelchair-accessible bathroom on Goldstone’s
In August 2024, Maritzburg College added to the prestigious buildings and fixtures that surround our beloved Goldstone’s, with the unveiling of the Dr James Hill Deck.
An OC from the Class of 1989, James, the much-loved son of former staff member Mike and Cathy Hill, sadly passed away earlier this year.
As a quadriplegic and passionate College supporter, it is fitting that the newly built deck providing wheelchair access to Goldstones, is named in his honour.
Funds for this initiative, as well as the building of a wheelchair-accessible bathroom behind the Kent Pavilion, were donated by James’s classmates from College as well as from Onderstepoort, where he studied to be become a qualified vet.
Thank you to everyone who help make this project possible – we know that it will be well-used and appreciated for many years to come.
