Pietermaritzburg based law firm TMJ Attorneys (Tomlinson Mnguni James) has partnered with the College Foundation in providing a scholarship to two Maritzburg College learners.
As part of their B-BBEE commitment TMJ recognised the opportunity to invest in the academic programme applicable to senior leaners at College through the Skills Development component of their BEE initiative.
A shortlist of potential candidates was provided to the team at TMJ and their final decision was to award their scholarships to two Grade 11 learners, Philani Simamane and Sibusiso Pinkiney.
Both boys were equally thrilled at being selected by the directors of TMJ as the recipients of this support and are motivated to give of their best in and outside the classroom and make their generous benefactors extremely proud.
Philani and Sibusiso represented the Maritzburg College 1st XV during 2018 and are looking forward to inviting some of the TMJ staff to their home games on Goldstones next year!
TMJ Directors, Michael Browning and Ian Patterson-Roberts made some time available to meet both boys and find out more about their College journey. The mouthwatering selection of tea-time treats laid out by the TMJ caterers was the real ice-breaker and both Philani and Sibusiso enjoyed sharing some of their College experiences over something to eat and drink.
Both Michael and Ian consider Maritzburg College a local asset and as a Pietermaritzburg-based firm regard it important to invest in local education and to develop skills and create opportunities for local learners.
The College Foundation is humbled by this generosity and looks forward to a strong and mutually beneficial relationship with TMJ.
