Celebrating their 20year reunion this year, the members of the Maritzburg College Class of 1998 are already feverishly excited about their pending return to the halls and hallowed grounds of their Alma Mater for the annual Reunion Weekend in August.
It is often at the 20year mark, with children of school going age or sons heading to Maritzburg College to continue that family tradition, that Old Boys begin to recognise the value and impact that College had on their lives.
As part of their “return” these Old Boys have recently launched the Class of 98 Legacy Appeal in association with the College Foundation, aimed at providing the financial support and resources to enable a deserving young learner the opportunity and privilege of attending Maritzburg College.
With the assistance of the school, the Class of 98 have recently completed the application and selection process to identify the recipient of their Legacy Bursary.
The successful young aspiring College boy is Sandiso Dlamini, a grade 7 learner at Merchiston Preparatory School in Pietermaritzburg.
Sandiso and his mother were recently invited to College to meet with a Class of 98 representative who had the pleasure of informing them that Sandiso’s application to Maritzburg College for 2019 had been successful and that he was being offered the Class of 98 Legacy Bursary.
Both Sandiso and his mom were overcome with emotion and gratitude at this announcement and are looking forward to joining the College family next year!
For the Class of 98 this is an opportunity to “pay it forward” for the school and community that meant so much to them and had such an impact on all of their lives.
The Class of ’98 invite all Old Boys and friends of College to support this worthy initiative by making a donation on their GivenGain crowdfunding page – and to share Sandiso’s wonderful and exciting journey with friends and family.
